Help with exporting search results
Search results can be exported (downloaded) in three ways:
On the results page select the records you wish to export and use the Display/export menu to select an export format:

RIS
To export references from Social Care Online to your references management software use the RIS export format available in Social Care Online. RIS is a standard format that can be used by several common brands of reference management software such as EndNote, Reference Manager or RefWorks.
1. Carry out your search.
2. Select the records you want export.
3. Choose ‘Export as RIS’ from the drop down menu shown below.

4. Save this file as a text file to your computer.
5. Open a new empty text file, then copy and paste the contents of your saved text file to this new empty file. Resave the file with a new name.
6. This will produce a text file that you can import into reference manager software. (Pasting the results into a new text file is a necessary step to ensure the records import correctly).
NB Due to the database structure of Social Care Online, reference source data (For example: journal title, volume, issue and page numbers) exports into a single field, instead of the multiple fields that reference manager software programmes contain. Some manual editing of data may therefore be required after importing Social Care Online data into a reference manager software package.
