Description: |
What do we mean by integrated practice in social work? Does it refer to improved linking between services, as a response to criticisms of a dangerous lack of communication? Is it about ending responses from services that separate a person’s life and relationships into disparate areas? Integrated practice remains ill-defined and may be seen by workers as merely a threat to their professional identity. This conference will open up discussion around a range of dimensions of integration related to social work, grounded in the integration between research and practice. Speakers and workshops will consider integration between Health, Social Services and Education, integration of services across the lifespan, integration between adult mental health and the needs of children and integration between theory and practice. In line with the recommendations of the Social Work Task Force, it will refocus social work towards integrated, effective and innovative practice. |
